Leading edge flocking

I am building wooden wings with plywood leading edges. Should I use felt as shown in the video of covering the Piper? This is the initial covering of this plane.

I have wooden leading edges on my pitts and DIDN'T use felt.  I didn't think it needed it.  I did spend some time getting my leading edges smooth prior to covering.

Thanks for the input. Since this is a new homebuilt that has never been covered before, I was thinking that the flocking might not be required. I have been very careful during assembly to sand all joints in the leading edge plywood so that it is smooth. There is only one place where there is some unevenness, but I think it has been sanded enough to not show up. There was one low spot, but I mixed some sawdust with T88 and filled it in, then sanded it down to match the rest of the surrounding area.
