Patching the hole?

The video I saw of the staggerwing knot shows the needle making an entrance hole prior to the first set of two parallel holes that will be used to hold fabric to structure. I know how to patch a larger hole, but what's your recommendation for patching the initial hole? - Mike

No need to patch anything when rib stitching... the finishing tape covers all the tiny holes you make.  Besides they are not holes, they are areas that you have pushed the fibers of the weave apart.
