repair suggestions

I managed to hangar rash the outboard corner of a piper aileron..... only the last rib bay is in need of de-rumpling.  Is there an easy method to remove the finish/fill coat from sections of perimeter tape/etc so it can be peeled back & re-glued over my new fabric splice? I plan to fill the new fabric as usual, then re top coat the whole aileron to really hide the repair.
I have seen this done with MEK and elbow grease with a different system.  Tried some MEK on the EPP today and it didn't touch it!! I guess I can be less phobic of 100LL spills!

Like all the other catalyzed paint covering systems solvent will not take off the paint. Dope and Poly-Tone are the only systems you can wipe the finish off using MEK.

I would cut the fabric open along the trailing edge seam and repair the structure. Then glue the fabric down and put a finishing tape over edge where you cut and bring that tape back up through color like the rest of the fabric.
