Stewart Systems is setting the standard for aircraft fabric covering and painting technology for the 21st century.
SAFE TO USE
In the past, the only way to safely cover or paint an aircraft required the use of solvents that were very toxic, flammable and hazardous to the environment, as well as unpleasant to work with. Through the use of modern waterborne coatings technology, Stewart Systems has changed that forever! All of our fabric covering and painting products are non-hazardous, non-flammable and EPA compliant. Finally, you can cover and paint aircraft without endangering your health or the environment… and enjoy the process!
Through the use of modern waterborne coatings technology, we have also greatly improved the durability and overall lifespan of our system compared to the old solvent-borne systems. This has been proven by many hardworking aircraft in the field that have been completed in our system for over 20 years, with no cracks and no loss of gloss.
LIGHTER & MORE FLEXIBILE
Another advantage of Stewart Systems waterborne technology is the weight savings. The entire system on a Super Cub weighs less than 40 lbs. That is 30% lighter than our closest solvent-based competitor. This is possible because the effectiveness of our coatings is far greater, reducing the overall volume of material applied to the aircraft by as much as 50%. Thinner coatings mean less weight and more flexibility, yet an increase in overall durability.
FEWER MATERIALS NEEDED
What about price? While the the cost of our individual products may be higher in some cases, the overall cost of the system is significantly less because the quantity of materials is far less. To help you estimate the material quantities and cost of your project, we have created a list of standard quotes for many popular aircraft here. If you don’t see your aircraft, please contact us and we will assist you in calculating a materials list.
WHY ISN’T EVERYONE USING STEWART SYSTEMS?
In many cases it is because they are not aware we exist. Also, in aviation, old habits die slowly. Many people use the old solvent systems because they have always used the old solvent systems. It’s time to enter the 21st century in aircraft finishing technology!
